upcoming awesomeness!

November is shaping up to be a pretty damn good month for the arts in the Niagara region. If you're around, you should definitely check out some of the events going on!

Some of the highlights:

The Grey Border's Reading Series, bringing some of Canada's most respected and inspiring writers and poets right to your own backyard, will be kicking off their third installment tonight (November 10th) at the Niagara Artists' Centre (354 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines, Ontario). Tonight's 'Poetry in Performance' edition of the GBRS is set to include Gregory Betts, rob mclennan, Pearl Pirie, and James Millhaven!! A pay what you can, licensed event, the poetic goodness begins at 7:30 this eve :)

On Friday, November 12th, the Brock University Creative Writer's Club will hold the seventh edition of their Cipher Reading Series, giving emerging talent from Brock U and the Niagara area a chance to showcase some of their astounding works. The Series is taking place at Fine Grind Cafe (37 James Street, St. Catharines, Ontario) at 7pm! (Fine Grind is a cash only venue!!) Come out and support upcoming literary talent :)

The Mansion House pub (5 William Street, St. Catharines, Ontario), home to tons of kick-ass musical performances all year long, will be featuring Elk, with special guests Greys, Knife the Wolf, and Yell at Birds this Saturday, November 13th!! Elk, one of Ontario's most talented and innovative bands, now partnered with IndoorShoes Record Label, will be putting on an amazing show if you're downtown this weekend! For a mere $8 cover, your ears will be in musical heaven: show starts at 7! (rhyme!) If you haven't heard Elk's stuff, check out their myspace page, and join them this Saturday at The Mansion House.

It's finally here!! The Niagara Artists' Centre 11th Annual STRUTT - The Largest Wearable Art Show in Canada, takes place on Friday, November 19th! The STRUTT fashion-show features contemporary artists' 'wearable art' designs, favoring playful irony over serious elite. A highly recommended event, filled with both hilarity and outstanding artistic talent. Check out Niagara Magazine's article about the event by clicking here! STRUTT's doors open at 8pm at The Market on the Brock University Campus, tickets are available at the Brock University Centre for the Arts Box Office (905-688-5550 x3257). General Admission is $30, Niagara Artists' Centre members and Students pay $20 :)
